My Experience of Paddling in the Australian Champs & the CCWC

amber_and_reneeWhen I started paddling with the Dragon Mites, our Junior team, Jenny our coach set us the task of finding a word that resonated with us when we paddled. My word was ‘FREE’. The feeling of freedom and tranquillity I get when I paddle is astounding, and when our boat is in complete sync, there is no place I would rather be than with my best friends Renee and AJ and the rest of our crew.

I am so glad that in Year 7 Joy Harwood came to our class as a guest speaker. Joy told us about her triumphs in dragon boating and her team, The Adelaide  Sea Dragons. I was immediately enthralled and I begged mum to let me attend the come-and-try day. That was two years ago, and I’m still hooked. My Sea Dragons friends are like another family to me, I have met so many awesome people through this sport, and competed with them at States, Nationals and the World Club Crews – PLUS we now have our junior team – the previously mentioned Dragon Mites, and I couldn’t be happier! SEAAAAA DRAGONS ROCK!
